Sixteen-year-old golf sensation Louis Rickett is returned to the UK following a highly successful winter training campaign based at the Alhaurín Golf Resort in Andalusia, Spain. The rigorous off-season program has seen the Oswestry teen fiercely tested against elite international competition, producing a string of spectacular results that position him as one of the region’s brightest amateur prospects for the 2026 season.
Opting to base his winter preparations in the warmer Spanish climate, used the opportunity to sharpen his game on the continent. His intense schedule included teeing it up in highly competitive World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) events across Europe, where he consistently proved his mettle against the best young players in the game.
Highlights of Rickett’s impressive winter run include a runner-up finish at the Portuguese Collegiate and a superb 3rd place finish at the Finnish Open. Both events are highly regarded WAGR-ranked tournaments that attract elite amateur fields from across the globe.
Not content with solely dominating the amateur ranks, the ambitious teenager also tested his game against seasoned professionals. Rickett competed in several events on the Toro Tour—a professional developmental circuit in Spain—where he remarkably secured two top-10 finishes. Holding his own against professional golfers has provided the youngster with invaluable tactical experience and a major confidence boost.
With his game fully dialed in after months of hard work and high-stakes competition in the Spanish sun, Rickett is now bringing his talents back to the UK. His immediate focus shifts to the highly anticipated Welsh Men’s Amateur Championship in the coming weeks, where he looks to carry his phenomenal European momentum into the domestic season.
